Why do you preauthorize my credit card for $1 when I add/update my card information?

A successful pre-authorization in the amount of $1 is required to validate your credit card when adding or updating your credit card information. Though it is not a charge, it may appear on your bank statement while the pre-authorization is still active.

Pre-authorization allows us to confirm that a credit card will accept charges from our company before placing an order, and also helps us prevent fraudulent transactions. The $1 pre-authorization is placed on a temporary hold with your credit card provider and is typically released within 2-3 business days, although in rare cases it can be up to 10 days depending on your credit card provider's policy.
